Student-Athlete Athletic Council

(SAAC)

 

Ashland University is proud to be a participant in the Division II national SAAC.

 

Division II SAAC members are the only division thus far to sponsor a division-wide community service campaign.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraising campaign has been identified as a part of the Division II strategic plan and seeks to meet the plan outcome measures as addressed in the goals of student-athlete achievement and the enhancement of the Division II national identity. Mission

 

It is the mission of Ashland University’s Student-Athlete Athletic Council to promote healthy lifestyles for our athletes, to educate our athletes on leadership skills and to assist in the planning for success during and after college.

 

Goals

 

The goals of S.A.A.C are:

  • To provide a forum for student-athletes representing each team to voice their opinions and help to establish policies.

 

  • To educate student-athletes in practical area promoting healthy lifestyles. (i.e. substance abuse; eating disorders; learning styles; career placement).

 

  • To establish a network within the community promoting service by the student-athletes.

 

Objectives:

 

The objectives of S.A.A.C are:

  • One to two representatives from each team will be selected to serve on the S.A.A.C.  This group will meet on a monthly basis to discuss and make recommendation to the Athletic Administration.

 

  • Student-Athletes will attend meeting featuring expert speakers in area pertaining to the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
