Ashland University Dedicates
Varsity Walk

Ashland University dedicated the 11th section of the Varsity Walk September 20 with about 100 former AU athletes, parents and area residents attending. The ceremony was prior to AU's football game against Hillsdale College. Established in 1992, the Varsity Walk program at Ashland University permanently recognizes all those men and women who have helped contribute to the Eagles' rich athletic heritage. Income from the program is restricted to the Eagler Endowment Fund which has grown to more than $200,000. Income from this fund is used to enhance athletic facilities and to purchase new equipment. More than 1,000 personalized, engraved bricks are incorporated into the landscaped Varsity Walk located in front of the Physical Education Building. The dedication ceremony included remarks by AU president Dr. G. William Benz, athletic director Bill Goldring and associate vice president for development Ralph Tomassi. The litany of dedication was recited by president emeritus Dr. Glenn L. Clayton.
