ORIENTATION WEEKEND:  August 23-24, 2008

A warm welcome to the new Honors freshmen and welcome back to our returning Honors students!

Saturday, August 23, 2:45 p.m. HON 101 New Class Meetings:

Classes begin Monday, August 25, 2008

Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30, Honors Program Retreat at Camp NuHop, Perrysville, Ohio

Cars will be provided to transport students to Camp NuHop.  Check back here at a later date for a departure meeting place and time.

Schedule of events for retreat:

Friday, August 29th

7:00 pm - Ice Breaker/Team Building activity

8:30 pm - Discussion of summer reading (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time)

9:30 pm - Brainstorming and planning for future Honors Program events 

10:00 pm - Movies/games/snacks

Saturday, August 30th

7:30 am - Breakfast   

8:30 am - GPS Adventure (Check out: http://www.thenuhopcenter.org/gps.html)    

11:30 am - Lunch

The purpose of this retreat is to continue to develop an intellectual community of Honors students devoted to discussion and dialogue, and in particular, for upperclassman Honors students to meet and welcome the incoming freshman Honors students.  This is a required event unless you have a prior commitment with another campus organization.  There is a $5 registration fee payable to Nancy Andres in 103 Clayton Hall by noon Wednesday, August 27.  Please RSVP to nandres@ashland.edu by Friday, August 15.
