In the first chapter of the book of Acts, the Risen Christ calls his followers to be Spirit-filled witnesses in Jerusalem, through out Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. This is a very lofty challenge to the infant church, yet is much more than a mere suggestion. It is a command to be the Spirit empowered hands and feet of Jesus Christ to this world in need of His presence, power and love. We live in a fast paced world and so much grapples for our attention, making it very easy to become focused on our corner of the world. Our homes, work places, schools, shopping centers and churches create a little galaxy that encapsulates our lives. Yet these words from our Lord refuse to allow us the luxury of such a narrow worldview. He exhorts and empowers each of us to make an impact in our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and world.
The Religious Life Network takes this passage as a call to action for our students, staff and faculty to respond to God through love and service in the name of Jesus Christ by near and far. Through the creation of The Isaiah Project there are opportunities for those apart of Ashland University to impact their Jerusalem (campus and Ashland community) , Judea (greater Ohio area), Samaria (United States) and the ends of the world (international locations). The Isaiah Project seeks to pray, plan and prepare for outreach events that empower the students, staff and faculty at each of these levels through out the school year into the summer to love and serve the people in the name of Jesus Christ.
