How did you find out about the internship?

I researched internships that were available in baseball on the Internet.

How long did it take you to secure the internship position?

It took between two to three months to secure the internship, starting from when I sent out my resume until I received a call that I had been selected for the position.

Did the Career Development Center help you in acquiring the internship? If so, please explain how.

Yes, the Career Development Center did help me in acquiring the internship with the Akron Aeros. Sarah Hoge was a constant help in refining my resume and improving my interviewing skills through mock interviews.

Describe the responsibilities within your internship.

I was responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, overseeing a workforce of 100+ people, sales reports, monitoring sales percentages and per caps, and vendor relations.

List three to five highlights from your internship.

  • The chance to work with and around baseball on a daily basis
  • Communicating with co-workers, employees, and vendors
  • Putting together orders from companies such as US Food, Berk, and Smith’s for an entire baseball stadium

What is one aspect of your internship that you would have wanted to change?

I would have liked to have had a better understanding of what is expected of me as an intern.

Did your internship confirm your anticipated career choice or path?

I did not know the career path I wanted to follow, but after my internship I feel that I have a better idea.

Now that you have completed an internship, what advice would you give students about internships?

Whatever you find yourself doing in the future, know that internships are the stepping stones that can get you started. And whether or not you have a good experience with your internship, it will help you better know what you want to do in the future.
