OHIO-All Media Regional Juried Exhibition

The 2013 Ohio All Media Juried Exhibition, featuring paintings, mixed media art, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculpture and assemblage art, opens on Sunday, June 30, in the Coburn Gallery at Ashland University. This exhibition, which runs through July 31, was created as a showcase for Ohio artists working in any media, traditional or experimental.

The 11th annual exhibition includes 36 artworks from 25 local and regional Ohio artists. A total of 49 artists entered the competition, with a total of 134 works considered for inclusion in the show.

Local artists include, from Ashland County -- Amanda Kiplinger, Betty Laird Perry, Patricia Ungerer White, Diane Kay, Nancy Booth, Linda Goodman, Nancy Dupre and Keith Dull; from Richland County -- Betsy Oberhausen and John Thrasher; and from Knox County -- Brittany Cherkes.

The Coburn Gallery will host an opening reception on Sunday, June 30, from 2-4 p.m. and the awards will be announced at 3 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

The juror for the 2013 competition was Robert Peppers, who is currently a professor at the School of Art at Ohio University. He has taught drawing at Penland School of Crafts and painting/collage in the O.U. Art in UK Program based at King’s College and University of London.

Recently, Peppers’ work received Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, “Best of Mixed Media Juror’s Award” in the 2011 Black Creativity Art Exhibition. His exhibition history includes showings at S.A.W. Contemporary Artist Centre, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; King’s College, London, England; The High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Ga.; African American Museum, Dallas, Texas; the Dadian Arts Gallery at the Henry Luce III Center for the Arts and Religion, Washington D.C.; Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Utah State University; and 10 U.S. Embassies.
