Lindsay Cameron always knew what she wanted to do—teach and write books for publication. She began her journalism career writing for Page One, the number one teen journalism program in the nation. Because she works well with kids, she decided to pursue a career in teaching scholastic journalism rather than one in a newsroom. On entering Ashland University she declared three majors— Creative Writing, Integrated Language Arts and Journalism—and added English later. Countless people, she says, thought she was crazy to undertake so much, but no one told her she couldn’t do it. The people around her pushed her to accomplish the goals she set for herself. The courses in literature, pedagogy and writing enhance her understanding of each of them. She has tutored students in the Writing Center, held a leadership position in the English honorary and interned for Ashland University’s Master of Fine Arts program. After graduation, she plans to teach high school English and eventually enroll in an MFA program for fiction and nonfiction.
