Bio

Dr. Vickie Van Dresar earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from Shenandoah University, Winchester, Virginia; a master of science in mathematics from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio; and a doctor of philosophy degree in educational mathematics from University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado. Dr. Van Dresar joined Ashland University in 1996. She has taught a variety of mathematics courses including Finite Mathematics; Introduction to Programming I (in Pascal); Calculus I, II, and III; Discrete Mathematics I and II; and Mathematics Content for Elementary/Middle School Teachers. Dr. Van Dresar's research interests include teaching mathematics, teacher's beliefs about mathematics and teacher's beliefs about the teaching of mathematics. She is a member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), Ohio Section of the MAA (Ohio Section President 2008-2009), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM).
