Professor Steve Suess joins Ashland University’s journalism and digital media department as a professional instructor and the new faculty advisor of WRDL. He earned both a B.S. in mass media with a minor in writing and a M.S. in communication from Illinois State University, where he taught both speech and radio courses as a graduate student. In addition to his studies at Illinois State, Professor Suess spent six years at WZND radio – four years as a student and two years as a graduate instructor working under ISU Director of Radio Deb Lesser. Professionally, he has worked four years in both commercial and public radio gaining extensive experience in sports play-by-play, sports reporting, news, audio production and scriptwriting. Professor Suess has been recognized by the Broadcast Education Association, Society of Professional Journalists, College Broadcasters Incorporated, Illinois Broadcasters Association and Illinois News Broadcasters Association for his work in radio.
