Dwight L. McElfresh, Ed.DAssistant Dean
Dr. McElfresh brings to the Telego Center over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in the public schools with particular emphasis on special education, organizational leadership, and federal grant writing at both large and small school districts. He holds an Ed.D from Ashland University, a Master of Science in Education from Akron University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ashland University.
Prior to joining the Telego Center at Ashland University, Dr. McElfresh served as interim superintendent of the Ashland City Schools. Previously, Dr. McElfresh had served as assistant superintendent, director of pupil personnel, director of curriculum, supervisor of special education, and teacher of learning disabled children in a variety of school settings.
Tom Lavinder
Director, Telego Center for Educational Improvement
Mr. Lavinder has over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in public education. Tom previously held the position of Superintendent in the Loudonville-Perrysville Schools and the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools and most recently served as Business Manager of the Ashland City Schools. He has also been a high school principal for nine years. He holds a Master's Degree from the University of Akron and a Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University. He has completed additional coursework from Bowling Green State University, University of Toledo, and Ashland University.
As the Telego Center Director, Tom is responsible for establishing strategic partnerships with school districts, professional organizations, and private sector companies. In addition, he assists educators and service providers in developing and providing graduate credit for workshops and other school improvement initiatives.
Sue
Spicer
Administrative Assistant
Working 8 years with Ashland City Schools as an elementary secretary, Mrs. Spicer joined Ashland University in 2004. Sue organizes and coordinates professional development workshops, forums, and seminars. She is responsible for contract preparation, administration, and the Telego Center's financial records. Her ability to work with school district personnel to make sound decisions that positively affect faculty and staff, assures that the professional development program will move smoothly from onset to completion.
