Responsibilities

This Vice President reports to the Presdient and is responsible for monitoring the development of programs at Ashland University’s major Regional Centers in Ashland, Columbus, Elyria, Cleveland, and Massillon. Also monitored are Professional Development activities in all 88 of Ohio’s counties, involving some 24,000 educators yearly. The Vice President works closely with Center Directors, the Deans, the Provost, and others responsible for the delivery of graduate academic programs of excellence.

The Vice President:

• oversees all Professional Development Services and Outreach programs.
• ensures the uniform application of institutional policies and standards in Graduate at all Regional Centers.
• oversees the development of nontraditional programs at regional locations beyond Ashland.
• coordinates off-campus program implementation in Education, Business, and other areas.
• is responsible for administrative budget functions at the five Regional Centers.
• chairs Center Directors’ meetings.
• serves on the President’s Cabinet.
• works as liaison with accreditation agencies, the Ohio Board of Regents, and the Ohio Department of Education.
• encourages and aids in the development of outside contracts.
• supports the creation and delivery of new programs to new locations.
• works to ensure adequate services, technology and security for off-campus locations.
• meets regularly with Regional Center personnel to address operational issues and concerns.
• has budgetary authority and responsiblity for all 45 Regional Center staff and administrators.
• is responsible for personnel matters related to all non-faculty Center employees, including hiring, supervision, promotion, etc.
• works closely with the Vice Presdient for Business Affairs on budget matters related to Regional Center operations.
• helps develop outside contracts with boards, foundations, agencies, centers, etc.
• works with the Reformatory Programs Director in providng services that support prision courses.
• assists the President in other duties as assigned.
