Description: An empowerment-based program for adults and children which teaches assault prevention skills. Classroom workshops teach children prevention strategies, such as self-assertion, peer support and telling a trusted adult. Adult workshops geared to parents and school staff teach prevention skills, reinforcement, responding to an assault disclosure and reporting responsibilties.
One-Time Volunteer Opportunities: Office duties, clerical, statistical, etc.
On-Going Volunteer Opportunities: Classroom presentations of the CAP curriculum, office duties, clerical, statistical, etc.
Service Learning Opportunities: Classroom presentations of the CAP curriculum in which you have the opportunity to work in the classroom with children in an empowering child assault prevention training
Training/Other Requirements Needed: Volunteer application required, training in HIPAA and VIRTUS for all volunteers. A 24 hour training in the CAP curriculum for those wishing to volunteer in elementary classrooms. (Additional trainings in other CAP curriculums, 24 hours each).
Directions from Ashland University: From the intersection of Claremont and College: go East on College to Center Street. Turn R on Center Street. Proceed South through the traffic light, turn R into the drive leading to Dale Roy facilities. Catholic Charities' CAP Project is located on the front left side of the large white building.
