Description: Community based health agency providing direct services for children and adults with disabilities and their families. Agency provides respite and home care, medical equipment, car seats, referral and camperships.
One-Time Volunteer Opportunities: Easter Seals sponsors several major fundraising events during the year. Several of which are the annual Auction held in January, a relay held in June, the Happy Harvest Coupon book that is sold during October, November, and December, and a Breakfast with Santa sponsored by Applebee's. Plans for 2002 include a craft show, a motorcycle fundraising ride, and several events that are still in the planning stages.
On-Going Volunteer Opportunities: Storytellers are needed for the Hal's Pals program and Disability Awareness program. Hal's Pals is designed to educate children 3 through 8 about disabilities. Dolls are used to illustrate the disability and a story is told for each doll. The Disability Awareness program covers older children and adults. It uses examples of people with actual disabilities and an explanation of what Easter Seals is, what it does, and its history.
