Searching for the perfect college fit was difficult. I knew I wanted to pursue a dietetics degree, but all of the schools with accredited dietetics programs were large and I felt that I would get lost in the shuffle. When I discovered and visited Ashland University it felt different. The faculty and staff that I met remembered my name, everyone was helpful, and I felt very welcomed. Now that I am on campus, I know that I made the right decision. I get to work directly with my professors if I have questions, the class sizes are small, and I have had many dietetic opportunities that I would not have received on a larger campus. I am currently the Vice President of the Ashland University Student Dietetic Association. I have been an active member of the association for two and a half years and served as the Speaker Committee Chair. Our goal is to bring nutrition education to Ashland University’s campus and the surrounding community. Some events we have planned include worksite wellness programs at local Ashland businesses, national nutrition month education in the dining hall, and participation in campus health fairs. The Student Dietetic Association has given me many opportunities to use the knowledge I am learning in class and apply it to real life situations.
