How much does counseling cost?

Counseling is FREE to all Ashland University students.

Is counseling available for Ashland University employees?

Ashland University does not provide on going counseling to employees of the university, but counselors are available on a case-by-case basis to provide assessments and referrals.

Who are the counselors at Ashland University?

Ashland University employs two full time counselors to help students with their needs: Oscar McKnight, Ph. D. and Meghan Zimmerman, LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor).

Will my consultation at the Counseling Center be confidential?

Yes, Ashland University students can be assured that personal concerns will be treated as COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL, within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and the Licensure Board of the State of Ohio.  This means that everything is confidential unless you become an immediate danger to yourself or others, or your records are needed for medical or judicial evidence.

How can I make an appointment at the Counseling Center?

Students may initiate services by visiting our office, located on the second floor of the Hawkins-Conard Student Center, or by calling Linda Crone at 419-289-5307 to schedule an appointment.  There is also a form available on the Contact page of our website to contact our counselors.

Can I make a referral for a student to be seen at the Counseling Center?

Yes, referrals can be made at the Referral page of our website.  All referrals will remain confidential, as will the student’s future choice of counseling.
