Your gateway to a great career in some of today’s most in-demand fields.
The science of biology is a science for our time, exploring the questions that may lead to profound changes in our world and even to the future of life itself.
What occurs in the brain to cause autism? How do toxins affect the environment? How do invasive species spread in wetlands? When you choose a Biology Science major at Ashland University, you join a program on the cutting edge of scientific exploration with outstanding facilities and research equipment, access to five local nature preserves, strong pre-professional programs, and many opportunities to work with your professors on scientific research projects.
What you will enjoy about biology:
- Outstanding pre-professional program. View our video here!
- Attending classes taught strictly by full-time professors, all of whom hold Ph.D.s and conduct active research in their discipline
- Small class sizes, even in freshman and sophomore courses
- Opportunity to perform independent research with Biology faculty in updated facilities with modern research equipment
- Diverse courses and research opportunities in areas such as cell and molecular biology, physiology, toxicology, field ecology, animal biology, aquatic biology, environmental science, forensic science and biotechnology
- Being part of a program that has an outstanding record of admission to medical, dental, veterinary and physical therapy schools as well as to top-tier graduate schools. Since 2004, 90 percent of our majors who applied to professional schools were admitted within one year after graduation
We are currently accepting applications for our Choose Ohio First Scholarship, which awards $3,000-$4,700 per year for students from the State of Ohio that major in Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science or Toxicology.
