This policy has been established to address the Ashland University's (Ashland University) desire to protect its nursing students, from the risk of infection from Bloodborne pathogens, which include but are not limited to Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and syphilis. Ashland University has developed procedures to be followed in the event of an unprotected exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). Adherence to the Exposure Control Plan will ensure proper training, and protection for all students that may come in contact with blood or OPIM. This policy is specific for the College of Nursing Students. Please refer to the Ashland University Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan for the policy for faculty, staff, visitors and volunteers.
