The H1N1 virus (sometimes called swine flu) continues to be of worldwide concern. Hundreds of cases involving college students throughout Ohio have been reported. Typically, symptoms have been mild to moderate. However, similar to the seasonal flu, the virus can be lethal.

The Ashland University Health Center staff continues to work closely with the Ashland County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health in our efforts to limit transmission of the virus. Communication regarding prevention measures was sent to the Ashland University community on August 25, 2009 as well as an update to students on October 5, 2009.
