Captain George E. Getman, USMC and Sgt. Cynthia Zermeno, USMC, will be outside of the Eagles Nest today from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm to recruit candidates for the US Marine Officer Candidate Summer Program. Stop by their information table to learn more about this opportunity!
This is an opportunity for a student to go to Officer Candidate School during the summers, (or after graduation) for either 6 or 10 weeks (depending on grade level when entering program). OCS will determine whether the candidate has the ability to become a leader of Marines by testing them physically, mentally and in leadership areas. There is no obligation to accept a commission, but if the candidate successfully completes Officer Candidate School a commission is offered upon graduation from college (or in the case of seniors and grads, upon completion of OCS.) Requirements for acceptance into the program: must be a U. S. Citizen and must be a student who is full time (12+ hours) and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Applicants will be given a full physical exam and must also pass a Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test consisting of pull-up (men) or flex-arm hang (women), crunches, and a 3-mile run. Clean moral record is also desirable. The ideal candidate will not have reached his or her 25th birthday by commissioning.
