Overview
For the first time in school history, the Ashland University women's basketball program is in the Sweet 16. The Eagles, ranked second in the nation, are one step away from the Elite Eight in San Antonio. Ashland University brings a 30-game winning streak into Monday night's game against 17th-ranked Wisconsin-Parkside. Ashland has a school record 22-game home winning streak dating back to last season.
So far in the NCAA postseason, Ashland University has defeated Maryville, 87-62 and Quincy, 71-69. The Rangers have victories over Indianapolis, 73-66 and Ferris State, 71-57. Ashland University is the top seed in the Midwest Region and Wisconsin-Parkside is the third seed.
Wisconsin-Parkside is in the regional title game for the second straight year. Last year, the Rangers lost to Michigan Tech, 69-57 in the Sweet 16. The Rangers are the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division champions.
Tickets for the regional championship are on sale in the main office of the Ashland University athletic department, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. Adult tickets are $10 and student tickets are $4.
