Off-Broadway in 1977 to a television movie in 1993:
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Mamet takes us into the lives of two actors: one is young and rising into the first flush of his success; the other is older, anxious, and beginning to wane. This comedy about the artifice of acting portrays a professional relationship, and a shifting balance of power, between an aging, less-than-successful veteran and an eager, often clumsy tyro. As the play goes on they are involved in a variety of productions, and gradually their relationship begins to change.
