Information Regarding Lineup and Procession
The Spring 2008 Commencement is Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. on Jones' Terrace in front of Founders Hall. The procession
will begin at 9:40 a.m. in the large patio area between Clark and Kilhefner halls.
Information there will show you assigned areas according to the degree received. You should go to these areas and line up alphabetically. The time schedule is as follows:
8:45-9:30 a.m.
|
Graduates line up in assigned area, by degree, alphabetically and double line. |
| 9:40 a.m. | On the sound of chapel bells, the marshal will lead the graduates to the west side of the library. Graduates will stand on each edge of the walkway so that faculty can march between the lines. |
| 9:45 a.m. | Faculty and platform party move into place and the band begins to play processional. The students, led by the mace bearer, platform party and faculty, will proceed to assigned seats. |
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center. Seating will be limited for the inside event and tickets will be required. Each student will receive five tickets when he or she picks up the cap and gown from the Bookstore. Overflow seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles' Nest, the Student Center Auditorium and Jack & Deb Miller Chapel (see enclosed map for locations), where the ceremony will be broadcast live at each venue, and also on the www.ashland.edu website.
If you have any questions
regarding either ceremony, please contact the Registrars Office
at (419) 289-5029. If your plans change and you are unable to attend
the ceremony, please notify the Registrars Office by April 28.
Once the ceremony has begun, men should follow the President in removing and replacing caps. Graduation etiquette suggests that graduates remain for the entire ceremony.
If you are given the wrong diploma, please report to the Registrars Office following the ceremony.
Congratulations on this special day!
