Dr. Richard L. Stoffer, Professor of Biology, joined the Ashland University faculty in 1980. He is a member of the Environmental Science Program and the Ashland University Preserve Manager. He teaches courses including General Zoology, Ecology, Ecology of the Great Smoky Mountains, Field Zoology, Ethology, and Forensic Science. His research interests include Ohio prairies and prairie reconstruction, systematics of the Diptera family Chironomidae, and the recovery of the American Chestnut. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. (Zoology) from Ohio State University and his B.S. (Biology) from Ashland University.
