Dariela Rodriguez is a new assistant professor in the Ashland University Department of Communication Studies. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at The University of Oklahoma where she has studied Interpersonal Communication with an emphasis in Sports Communication. In addition to her work in sports, Dariela has co-authored papers in health communication, humor, and interpersonal deception. These papers have appeared in Qualitative Health Research and Communication Education as well as several conferences. Dariela has taught high school Communication and English for seven years and coached middle school athletics for four years. Sports coached include basketball, volleyball, golf, and track and field. She also coached high school forensics for two years during which she had several students qualify for the Texas Forensics League state tournament, five students qualify for the National Forensics League national tournament, and one student won the Texas University Interscholastic League state championship in informative speaking, a first for the O’Connor High School debate team.
