Dr. Jeffrey Spelman, associate professor and chair of the criminal justice and sociology programs, joined the Ashland University faculty in 1999. He received his Ph.D. at the Union Institute & University, his M.S. in Corrections at Xavier University, and his B.S. in Criminal Justice at Kent State University. Dr. Spelman is a member in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (NIJ) Consulting Database and enjoys conducting and presenting research on innovative projects in the Criminal Justice field. His research and articles have been published by the FBI, American Corrections Association, American Probation and Parole Association, and the Journal of Offender Monitoring.
