Dr. FitzSimmons, a former high school English teacher, directs the Integrated Language Arts program at Ashland University. He has a B.A. in English from Xavier University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from The Ohio State University.
Besides his background in language arts pedagogy, Dr. FitzSimmons specializes in narrative theory, American Literature, modernism, and the works of William Faulkner. In addition, he researches and produces visual texts, working as a freelance writer and photographer. One of six Sigma Pro photographers in North America, Dr. FitzSimmons publishes widely with magazines such a Popular Photography & Imaging and Shutterbug and produces landscape and wildlife calendars for industry leaders BrownTrout and Barnes & Noble.
