Pianist Megan Barth is a native of, Mt. Gilead, OH, who is quickly establishing herself as both a versatile performer and a pedagogue. Ms. Barth recently received her Masters of Music in Piano Performance from Kent State University under the tutelage of Donna Lee and Joela Jones. She earned her B.A. from Ashland University under Elizabeth Pastor. As a soloist, Ms. Barth has performed throughout Ohio, Florida, and at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina. She has also participated in master classes for Francisco Alvarez, Spencer Myer, Laura Bossert, Kate Boyd, and Victor Santiago Asuncion. During her graduate studies at Kent State University, Ms. Barth was an active chamber musician, where she participated in coaching with members of the Miami String Quartet. In the Spring of 2009, Ms. Barth continued her passion for chamber music by becoming a member of the Osud Piano Trio, which performs 20th century and contemporary repertoire in the form of lecture recitals. As a collaborator, Ms. Barth still serves as an active accompanist for students in the vocal, string, and woodwind studios at Kent State University. Currently, she also holds the position of a part-time accompanist at Ashland University, specifically for the low-brass studio. Other collaborative positions have included the principal keyboardist of the Ashland Symphony Orchestra and the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra, as well as the accompanist for the Ashland University Women’s Chorus, the Drop of a Hat Players at Ashland University, and most recently the Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus. Ms. Barth also serves as the music director and organist for the First Congregational Church in Ravenna, OH. Apart from performing Ms. Barth is an active pedagogue in both the classical and jazz mediums. Since the fall of 2007, she has taught Class Piano at KSU and has participated as one of the apprentice teachers in the Teaching Institute Program. Additional teaching experiences include instructing Adult Class Piano at the Richland Arts Academy in Mansfield, OH and teaching privately in the Kent and Ashland areas.
