How does my Athletic Insurance coverage work?

Varsity Athletic/Sports Claims:

If you experience a sports-related injury your athletic trainer will refer you to the Student Health Center for evaluation and treatment. There is no charge for this visit. If you are sent directly to the Emergency Department, or if diagnostic testing or outside referral is required, the following insurance coverage will take effect:

• Your student Accident Insurance pays the first $2,000 of your expenses. All student athletes have this coverage.
• If you are covered under your parent's insurance plan: Costs above $2,000 are submitted to that plan for coverage. Any remaining balance may be sent to Commercial Travelers Insurance Company with all explanation of benefits from prior insurance payments/denials. Commercial Travelers pays up to $90,000.
• If you are covered only under the Student Health Insurance: Costs above $2,000 are submitted to Commercial Travelers Insurance Company with all explanation of benefits from prior insurance payments/denials. Pays up to $90,000.
