English Language Proficiency

•  Conditional admission is given to our academic programs if beginning in our ESL at ACCESS program.
•  If you are currently living in the United States, but were educated outside of the United States you will be required to submit evidence of English proficiency.
• Students who have had at least one year education in the United States, Canada, the UK, New Zealand or Australia may have the English Language proficiency requirements waived.

English Proficiency Entry Requirements

Writing Proficiency

Students who do not have the following subset scores will take a support class during their first semester. Undergraduates will take English 100, graduate students will take Graduate Writing for International Students ACGW.

If you do not submit evidence of English proficiency, you may still apply (and be given conditional admission) to our academic programs. You should expect to spend at least one semester (two terms) in the ACCESS (ESL) program before beginning academic studies. You may complete the ACCESS application at this link http://www.ashland.edu/access/ieng.html, (and if you are also submitting an academic application, you only have to pay one $50 application fee).
