International Students

Academic scholarships are available for international students accepted for admission to AU’s undergraduate programs. These scholarships are based on the student’s academic achievement prior to entering AU. Click http://www.ashland.edu/iss/undergrad-scholar.html for specific requirements and award amounts.
International students are not eligible for other AU institutional scholarships and grants with the exception of athletic scholarships as determined by the coach and athletic director.
Eligible non-citizens of the United States may apply for federal grants and loans by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Generally, you are an eligible non-citizen if you are:
- a U.S. permanent resident and you have an Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-551);
- a conditional permanent resident (I-551C); or
- an other eligible non-citizen with an Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service showing any one of the following designations: “Refugee,” “Asylum Granted,” “Indefinite Parole,” “Humanitarian Parole,” or “Cuban-Haitian Entrant."
If you are in the U.S. on an F1 or F2 student visa, J1 or J2 exchange visitor visa, or a G series visa, you are not eligible for federal student aid.
Canadian international students may apply for loans under the Canadian Higher Education Student Loan Program. Additional information is available at
