NEXT STEPS FOR UNDERGRADUATES

HOW TO COMPLETE THE FINANCIAL AID PROCESS

Step 1: Review Electronic Award on WebAdvisor

Incoming Students - receive a paper copy of their initial award through the mail with instructions for viewing their award electronically on AU WebAdvisor.

Returning Students - receive an email at their AU email account notifying them when their initial electronic award is available for viewing on WebAdvisor.

All Students - Students receive notices of revisions to their awards by email only. (Incoming students receive an AU email account when they first register for classes.)

Students should review their award and check for missing forms on WebAdvisor. Students with loans must complete additional processes (see Step 2).

1. How do I receive a Federal Stafford Loan?

    1) All new student borrowers at AU must apply for and complete a Promissory Note with a lender to receive a Federal Stafford Loan. Click on the link below to access FASTChoice. Once you have entered your name and read a page of information regarding loan terms, click continue. You may then review the benefits offered by several lenders and select one.  Then click "apply now" neaxt to that lender's link to apply for and sign a Federal Stafford Loan promissory note for that lender. [Please note that students who completed a Stafford Loan Promissory Note for 2008-09 for Ashland University do not have to complete another note.]

2) All new borrowers must also complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.

5. How do my parents apply for a Federal Parent Parent Loan?

1) A Parent Loan Application must be completed each year with the parent borrower's information and the actual loan amout requested.

2) All new parent borrowers at AU must apply for and complete a Promissory Note (a new note must be completed for each AU child) to receive a Federal Parent Loan. Click on the link below to access FASTChoice. Once you have entered your name and read a page of information regarding loan terms, click continue. You may then review the benefits offered by several lenders and select one.  Then click "apply now" next to that lender's link to apply for and sign a Federal Parent Loan promissory note for that lender.

1. How do I access my award on WebAdvisor?

  1. access WebAdvisor at https://webadvisor.ashland.edu
  2. click on "Log In"
  3. login with User Name and Password
    • Username is the same as your AU email Username
    • If accessing WebAdvisor for the first time, your temporary password is the last six digits of your social security number. You will be prompted to provide a new password.
    • Contact the IT Department at 419-289-5045 or at helpdesk@ashland.edu if you have problems accessing your WebAdvisor account.
  4. click on "Students" and go to "Financial Aid Award Letter"
