2008-09 Timeline for Undergraduate Students

WHEN!	WHAT TO DO TO RECEIVE FINANCIAL AID ON TIME!
January	FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID) PIN - Student and parent each apply for FAFSA PIN at www.pin.ed.gov if not previously obtained.
February	2008-09 AU Financial Aid Application INCOMING STUDENTS: complete at www.exploreashland.com/admission (click on Forms). RETURNING STUDENTS: complete at www.ashland.edu/finaid IRS Tax Forms - Student and Parent gather tax documents and complete forms. 2008-09 FAFSA - Complete at www.fafsa.ed.gov using completed tax forms. March 15 is the priority date for completion to receive financial aid in a timely manner!
March	FINANCIAL AID AWARDS FOR INCOMING STUDENTS MAILED TO INCOMING STUDENTS BEGINNING MARCH 1!
April/May	Submit any additional paperwork or tax forms requested to the Financial Aid Office.
May	INCOMING STUDENTS... should review award on WebAdvisor (https://webadvisor.ashland.edu) then go to Undergraduate Next Steps on the Financial Aid website; review additional steps needed to process loans and follow directions so that aid will credit to account.
June	FINANCIAL AID AWARDS FOR RETURNING STUDENTS ON WEBADVISOR IN EARLY JUNE! WATCH FOR AU EMAIL STATING AWARD IS READY TO VIEW! INCOMING STUDENTS: If you didn't review your award on WebAdvisor, do it now; then go to Undergraduate Next Steps on the Financial Aid website to review additional steps needed to process loans. RETURNING STUDENTS: Review award on WebAdvisor (https://webadvisor.ashland.edu); then go to Undergraduate Next Steps on the Financial Aid website to review additional steps needed to process loans. IMPORTANT! All new borrowers must complete a Stafford Loan Promissory Note for the 2008-09 academic year. Returning borrowers who had a promissory note with Student Loan Xpress must complete a new promissory note with a new lender for 2008-09 New borrowers must also complete Entrance Loan Counseling. Loans will not be processed unless the additional steps are completed!
July	Fall Semester Bill - Watch for bill in early July. Student and parent review bill to determine if parent loan or monthly payment plan needed. Federal Parent Loan - To apply for a Federal Parent Loan, parent must complete Parent Loan Application and mail to Financial Aid Office. All new borrowers* of Parent Loans for 2008-09 must also complete a Promissory Note. Parent Loans will not be processed unless application received and promissory note completed! Returning borrowers who had a promissory note with Student Loan Xpress must complete a new promissory note with a new lender for 2008-09 Monthly Payment Plan -* If needed, parent applies for monthly payment plan at www.tuitionpay.com or 1-800-635-0120.
August	Moving In - Students who have completed all financial aid processes and have bill settled by end of first week of August will not have to wait in line in the Business Office on Move-In Day!!
