I came to Ashland after completing my master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration at Ball State University. I’ve been on campus, helping students work out their financial aid, since September 1985.

When I started my position at Ashland, it meant so much to be able to help students achieve their goal of attaining a college degree and it’s just as exciting for me today. I know I am able to make a difference in students’ lives and that is so satisfying.

When I talk to students today I try to convey what a truly exciting time college is in life. It is a time to learn and to become everything God intended for you to be. Now is the moment to be proactive and get involved, not just in the classroom, but in other areas as well.

It hardly seems possible, but I’ve been working in Admissions and Financial Aid for 39 years now, including 13 years at Ashland. It is something I really enjoy. The very best part of my job is getting to talk to the students and their families and help them work out the financing to make college affordable.

After a long day of juggling details so students can attend Ashland, I like to unwind by visiting the animals on my farm and walking in the pasture. It’s a real stress buster.

When I talk to students, I encourage them to be open to new experiences when they come to campus. It’s important to try new things and stretch. That’s the secret to getting the most value from your education. We’ll work with you every step of the way to get you to Ashland. Make sure once you’re on campus you make the most of it!

I received my undergraduate degree in Business Management from Ashland in 1995. (My husband has his Master’s, my son his Bachelor’s, and my daughter her Bachelor’s, all from Ashland University) We value an Ashland education! I received my Master’s of Science in Education as an Enrollment Management specialist from Capella University in March 2009, as well as a Professional Certification in Enrollment Management from Noel Levitz. I started working in our financial aid office in September of 1997.

I most enjoy watching students, and families, I’ve been able to assist grow from their experience at Ashland. It is very satisfying to see students accomplish their goals. I enjoy the excitement of them coming into my office to share successes, as well as being able to help them sort out the ‘issues.’ Many times, I have the opportunity to get to know my families on a personal level.

The best advice I can offer students is to take ownership of your opportunities here. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! We have many capable individuals more than willing to expand your experience at Ashland so that it can be all you hoped it would be.

I came to Ashland in May of 2010 with 12 years of financial aid experience. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

I enjoy working in financial aid because I get to impact the lives of young people. Financing a college education can be overwhelming. I enjoy helping families navigate the process and seeing the promise in prospective and returning students.

I came to Ashland in September of 2012 with 5 years of experience in consulting and financial aid. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Taylor University in 2007 and remember what it's like to have to finance an education.

My experience in financial aid has been extremely rewarding due to the opportunities I have had to help impact the lives of students and their families. The best advice I could give to a family in pursuit of financial aid is to seek out as many gift aid opportunities as possible, it requires extra effort but the additional funds available through grants and scholarships is worth it.

I came to Ashland University in August of 2010 with 11 years of experience in the financial aid arena. Currently, I am furthering my education and understand what it is like to be a student. Financial aid can be an overwhelming part of the college process, but together, we can achieve your goal. Along the journey, there may be some bumps and bruises, but always keep the end goal in sight.

My favorite part of my job is being able to help students reach their goal of being a college graduate. I encourage students to be involved and embrace the financial aid experience; in the long run they will be thankful they listened.
