Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant Program (ACG)

Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant Program (ACG). Eligible students will receive $750 for the first academic year of study and $1,300 for the second. To qualify, the student must be a U.S. citizen; Federal Pell Grant recipient; enrolled in a degree program; have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study; and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. U.S. Dept. of Ed. notifies each applicant who is potentially eligible based upon FAFSA information.

Federal Pell Grant. Students seeking financial assistance may apply for this need-based federal grant by filing the FAFSA. The amount of this grant varies.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant. Ashland University awards these federal funds to students who have high financial need. To apply, file the FAFSA. The amount of this grant varies.

Federal TEACH Grant

Federal TEACH Grant. Eligible students may receive $4000 per year with a maximum of $16,000. The grant is limited to students who plan to teach in a Title I school in shortage areas – math, science, foreign language, bilingual education, special education, reading specialist or high-need field approved by the Secretary of Education. Federal Yellow Ribbon Program

Federal Yellow Ribbon Program. In partnering with the Veterans Administration in this program, Ashland University has agreed to match the funding provided by the Veterans Administration up to a total of $11,000. Approved applicants can receive up to $5,500 from both the Veterans Administration and Ashland University. The money from Ashland University may come from an institutional grant or scholarship. Up to 20 undergraduate students will be offered funding through this program on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ohio Academic Scholarship

Ohio Academic Scholarship. This scholarship has been discontinued by the state effective with the 2009-10 academic year. Students who were previously awarded these funds will have funding for subsequent years determined by the state.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant

Ohio College Opportunity Grant. Is available to eligible students who are residents of Ohio, and is based on financial need. To apply for this program, a student must file the FAFSA.

Ohio National Guard Tuition Grant

Ohio National Guard Tuition Grant. This program is offered to eligible members of the National Guard. This grant pays the average state-assisted university’s tuition costs at private institutions recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents. The grant is available for undergraduate studies. Ohio War Orphan Scholarship

Ohio War Orphan Scholarship. Awarded to students whose parent served at least 90 days of active duty during a declared war or conflict and is severely disabled or deceased as a result of service. Applications are available from high school guidance counselors or veterans offices.

Pennsylvania State Grant

Pennsylvania State Grant. This grant is available to eligible full-time students who are residents of Pennsylvania. The amount varies and is determined by the state of Pennsylvania. To apply for this grant, file the FAFSA.

The National SMART Grant Program

The National SMART Grant Program. Eligible students will be awarded $4000 each year for their third and fourth academic years. To qualify, the student must be a U.S. citizen; a Federal Pell recipient; enrolled in a degree program; enrolled at a four-year degree-granting institution; major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, a critical foreign language, psychology, natural resources and conservation, and maintain a 3.0 grade point average each term.
