Alumnus Grant. Sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of Ashland University or MedCentral College of Nursing alumni are eligible for this grant. (Father, mother or grandparent must have earned 32 or more undergraduate credits, or have received an undergraduate or graduate degree from Ashland University or MedCentral College of Nursing). The grant is renewable by maintaining satisfactory academic progress, and the amount is $2,000.

Ashland University Grants & Scholarships
Ashland University offers a broad range of scholarships to recognize achievement in many different areas. If you’re an outstanding student, chances are there’s a scholarship or award available for you. Select a link above and see your opportunities for scholarships at Ashland. Your first step in receiving any aid, including scholarships, is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The following Ashland University scholarships and grants are available to full-time undergraduate students who are paying the comprehensive rate of tuition and do not have a bachelor’s degree. Ashland University students enrolled in the Evening/Weekend, Lorain County Community College, Columbus Bachelor’s Completion, or Nursing programs not paying the comprehensive rate are not eligible for these awards. Ashland University scholarships and grants are only available during the fall and spring semesters. The maximum Ashland University aid that a student may qualify for is limited to the cost of tuition. Students may qualify for federal or state grants during summer sessions.
Merit-Based Scholarships
First-time freshmen entering Ashland University are eligible for the following scholarships or award based upon their ACT or SAT test score and cumulative high school GPA. A minimum 18 ACT or 860 SAT score and a 2.5 GPA are required. The scholarships or award are based on 7th semester GPA and standardized testing taken during or before February of the student's senior year. A student's award can be increased based on updated GPA and test scores received by March 1. After March 1, no revisions will be made due to improved test scores or GPA. Students who apply after March 1 will have their academic award based on the test results and transcript presented at the time of application.

Transfer Student Scholarships
Incoming transfer students who have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in college are eligible for this award. The scholarship ranges from $7,000 to $10,000 and is renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Scholarships
Choose Ohio First Scholarships. Ashland University has been awarded a grant from the State of Ohio to give Choose Ohio First (COF) Scholarships to outstanding students with interests in bioscience related areas. These scholarships will support students who plan to pursue careers that apply biological knowledge to medical and agricultural areas, either through continued education in graduate schools, health related professional schools or through direct employment in industry after completion of the Bachelors Degree. Department Merit Scholarship. Each academic department recognizes exceptional accomplishments through this scholarship for returning students. The award is renewable if the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and the amount varies up to $500.
Out-of-State Grant. Available to full-time domestic students; non-residents of Ohio. The value of the grant is $2,000 per year. Athletic scholarship recipients do not qualify.
Sibling Grant. This grant is offered when two or more siblings from the same houshold are full-time undergraduate students, both paying the comprehensive rate of tuition at Ashland University.
The value of the grant is 25% of tuition for each sibling, and the higher of the Sibling Grant or the need-based Ashland grant(s) will be awarded. Minimum 2.5 gpa required; athletic scholarship recipients do not qualify. Recipients may also qualify for other non-need-based Ashland University scholarships with a maximum equal to tuition.
The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion.
