This year’s Symposium will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium gives students from the College of Arts and Sciences a chance to share their creative works with the University community. All majors in the College of Arts and Sciences are welcome to apply to present, regardless of their field of study or their class year.
Presentations should represent a significant research or creative effort; examples include summer research projects, independent study, thesis work, literary readings and/or analysis, musical or theatrical performances, and exhibitions of artwork. The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium is not a venue for presenting “position papers”, in which an opinion is presented instead of scholarly work. The symposium is also not a venue for discussing internship experiences, unless research or creative activities were central to the internship. Projects presented at the Symposium do not necessarily need to be completed, however, students will be expected to put the research question into perspective, explain the process by which the question will be investigated, and presentations must include preliminary results.
All presentations require approval by a faculty sponsor before they will be considered for presentation. Submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance for presentation.
