Course Description:

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office of Ocean Exploration and Research’s (NOAA OER) Education Program is working with the College of Exploration to  offer an online workshop using online content from the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer Northeast U.S. Canyons 2013 Field Season to enhance ocean literacy based on the distribution of deep-sea habitats and marine life along the Northeast U.S. Canyons of the Western Atlantic. The target audience will be formal and informal educators throughout the U.S. and abroad. The offering will feature Keynote Addresses from Principal Investigators and/or other content area experts. Workshop components include online “spaces” for discussions to further professional development, a collection of resources, discussion rooms for Keynote Speakers to interact with participants, and discussion rooms for educators. This online offering will also be structured to advance conversations about transatlantic ocean literacy.
