Topic: Department of Defense
Instructor: Carol Czerw
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: Department of Defense

Course Description:

In this course, we will study theories of adult learning and change, and we will apply that knowledge to professional learning in schools. The professional learning will include creating learning communities, facilitating study groups and data reviews, leading CSI workshops, and implementing a five step process for co-teaching work with teachers. As part of the coursework, we will learn and conduct at least four-seven, student-centered coaching cycles in which you set specific learning targets for students and work collaboratively with the teacher to ensure the learning targets are met. You will keep a coaching log, collect and analyze the data on the impact of the coaching on student achievement. Other activities might include facilitating study groups based on CSI strategies and interventions, leading CSI workshops incorporating what is being learned about change and effective teaching practices into the presentation, and/or creating learning communities with grade level teams focused on using student performance data to inform instructional decisions and practices.
