Course Description:

This workshop will provide participants with strategies to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate the utilization of Literary Work Stations (LWS) In their classrooms. The workshop immerses participants with literacy activities that can be immediately implemented into the classroom. Examples from an actual classroom will be used to show participants how to develop activities and procedures that support the curriculum and align learning targets with Ohio Content Standards.  Participants will take a field trip to a classroom to show participants the importance of a well thought out room arrangement and its impact on student achievement.  Literacy Work Stations differ from traditional "learning centers''. Participants will examine the difference in these two and how LWS Impact student learning. Current research will be used to designate the difference between Traditional Learning Centers vs. Literacy Work Stations.
