Math Common Core Gr. K-5

Topic: Curriculum and Instruction
Instructor: Danny Hoffman
Method: Online (OWRK)
Sponsor: AU Massillon/Stark Center
Location: SKPD

Course Description:

Teachers will learn how to easily create math lessons to fit a grade level, domain and standard for the common core. A prerequisite for this class is a thorough understanding of using the fundamentals of Smart notebook design. Educators taking this class will confirm what grade they wish to create lessons for and a PDG form will then be sent to them with example problems to choose from. The lessons will then be sent by email upon completion and an engaged video and worksheet will be created to support that math domain and standard. All lessons will be published on a website and used to provide instruction for other teachers and their students. This course will provide educators the opportunity to become more engaged in teaching the common core and will be along the lines of a highly qualified math teaching course.  It should take approximately 12.5 to 14 hours to complete the lesson all depending on the teacher’s expertise in creating lessons using smart notebook. Upon signing up for the class all students will email Dan Hoffman their phone numbers so that he may make a phone call and all questions about the class have been answered. All lessons must be submitted three weeks after signing up for the class. The first lesson should be submitted early to verify that there is no question about what is required.

This is an open class with ongoing registration. It is a 5 week self-paced class with easy access to the instructor via email.
