Social Studies/Economics

Topic: Early Childhood
Instructor: Renee Elias
Method: Face to Face (WRK)
Location: EPD

Course Description:

This is a graduate level class. However, undergraduate credit is available upon request. There are no changes in content, price, or expectations.

Social Studies is the study of who we are and how we connect with our family and our community. This includes economics, the study of the choices that we make about production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. Although the concepts may sound more sophisticated than the average preschooler can comprehend, this module will explore the knowledge that preschool-aged children already have and are building on about decisions involving what they and others around them have, want and need. The module will also build educators' knowledge and skill in ways of supporting that growing understanding in the children in their own classrooms and programs.
