Course Description:

The main objectives of this 2-day seminar,"Supporting Students with Challenging Family Issues," (K-12) are understanding issues that students of incarcerated parents experience, empowering students of incarcerated parents to improve academic and social skills, exploring the different mental health disorders that exist in many students' families, supportive techniques to help students cope with family issues and achieve academic and social goals, and strategies to improve destructive behaviors that are hindering students' achievement.

This seminar will give teachers information to understand students of incarcerated parents and mental health disorders. Supportive techniques will be explored to help students overcome academic and social barriers that hinder students' achievement.
