Message from the Dean
Ashland University is home to one of the largest graduate student populations in the region. Our reputation of providing the right balance of research, inquiry, and professional practice has set Ashland’s graduate programs apart as the clear choice of practitioners from a variety of professions. Our faculty are not only graduates of a wide range of universities, but they also bring with them many years of non-university workplace experience. Faculty are committed to preparing students to be competent and confident professionals, and they make every effort to help students gain valuable insights into the influences that shape their fields.
The Graduate School sets the standard for academic excellence as it relates to all facets of advanced study. It seeks to serve society’s needs in specific technical and professional ways, as well as to serve the need for intellectual expansion. The Graduate School establishes, through the faculty, policies which define good practice in graduate programs, high quality in curriculum, excellence in student selection, and rigor in faculty appointments. In short, The Graduate School is your gateway to advanced study at Ashland University. From the admission process to commencement, The Graduate School serves as the advocate for our students and the guardian for academic quality with a focus on “Accent on the Individual.”
Some of the important operations contained within The Graduate School include: the Doctoral Program in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies; the Office of Research Support and Sponsored Programs; Graduate Admissions; The Graduate Council; The Graduate Cabinet; The Human Subjects Review Board (HSRB); The Graduate Writing Studio; and the Graduate Research Assistants (GRA) Program.
