Curriculum & Instruction is for you, if:
- I want to enhance my current understandings of research, current issues, curricula, and areas specific to a given content, intervention, literacy, leadership, or technology.
- I want to have the flexibility to develop my own program through the nine hours of electives provided through the Classroom Instruction program.
Where can I take courses?
Core Courses (12-Hours Required of Every M.Ed. Program) are Offered Online and at the Following Locations:
- Ashland Campus
- Columbus Center
- Cleveland Center
- Elyria Center
- Massillon/Stark Center
Major Professional Courses (Those Specific to each Concentration) are Offered at the Following Locations:

Note: Online courses do not require students to attend classes at a graduate center. Hybrid courses are a combination of online and face-to-face classes. Hybrid and online sections of classes are not available for every course during every term. See the Graduate Course Rotations and the current Schedule of Graduate Course Offerings for additional information.

The facts about M.Ed. at Ashland University
The Dwight Schar College of Education’s M.Ed. programs are among the largest in the state. With their intentional integration of theory and practice, our programs of study offer the academics and field-based elements that professionals need.
Quality Programs
The College of Education has been accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for more than 30 years. Our programs have been approved by their recognized specialized professional associations. Our faculty are proven practitioners who understand how to provide a balance of theory and practice in the classroom.
Convenient Locations
The College of Education’s graduate programs are offered at the Ashland campus, as well as four regional centers located in Columbus, Cleveland (Warrensville Heights), Elyria, and Massillon, OH. Courses are provided at the centers, online, and in hybrid (combined face-to-face and online) formats.
Personalized Attention
Ashland’s “Accent on the Individual” is a motto that represents how we do business. Knowledgeable M.Ed. program directors are available at each center to advise graduate students from the initial application to graduation. Within the classroom, our faculty believe that small class numbers, individualized attention, and quality instruction lead to purposeful learning experiences.
