Mission Statement
Ashland University’s Centers for Economic Education are dedicated to improving our youths’ understanding of economic principles and the global economy. Working with teachers and school systems we strive to prepare students to be knowledgeable consumers, prudent savers and investors, productive members of the workforce, responsible citizens and effective participants in the global economy. The Centers are affiliated with the Ohio Council on Economic Education (www.ocee.org) and the Council for Economic Education (www.councilforeconed.org/).
Giving our children essential tools for life.
Welcome to the Centers for Economic Education affiliated with Ashland University. We are delighted to work with you and help students in grades K-12 build a solid foundation of economics and financial literacy. While the study of economic concepts is included in the Ohio Department of Education’s Academic Content Standards for Social Studies the reality is, that for a variety of reasons, economics gets short changed in the school classroom. The result is that students are not adequately prepared to make critical decisions with respect to their education, career, personal finance and community issues. The quality of life for that student, his or her family, area businesses and ultimately Ohio is negatively impacted in a very meaningful way. The good news is-we’re here to help!
We service teachers, students, and school districts in 23 counties: Ashland, Ashtabula, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Erie, Franklin, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Knox, Lake, Licking, Lorain, Madison, Marion, Medina, Morrow, Richland, Union, western Wayne and Wyandot. Please take a moment to explore the programs and resources tabs and then give us a call. We look forward to working with you soon!
