Having fun. Saving lives.
In 1998, a group of college students pioneered a fund-raising event to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Evoking the help of faculty, staff and other students on the campus and in their community, these students led the charge in raising awareness and money for the hospital. The year culminated with an all-night celebration in which the students stayed “up ‘til dawn” and then, at the end of the event, the students revealed their fund-raising total.
Since that year, students from more than 230 schools have joined in the fight against catastrophic childhood diseases by hosting Up ‘til Dawn on their campuses and have raised more than $16 million for the patients of St. Jude. Committed young people across the country are quickly making Up ‘til Dawn the premier philanthropic projects for college students.
The AU Greek community has taken on St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its overall philanthropy. Students who lead Up ‘til Dawn on their campuses educate the community about St. Jude while raising money through a variety of activities. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to further benefit the life-saving work of St. Jude.
On April 12th 2008, we will host a Finale Event and stay “Up ‘til Dawn” celebrating our achievements and honoring the patients at St. Jude. Students “fight the yawn” so that St. Jude patients can grow up and go to college, too.

Write to people you know. On average, of every set of 50 letters students mail to people they personally know, more than $250 is raised for St. Jude.
