ASHLAND
Health Insurance & Medical Care

Health Insurance
It is mandatory for international students at Ashland University to have health insurance. Students have two options to choose from: International students who have insurance from their home country government or through a sponsoring agency will not be required to buy health insurance from the university if their policy is as good or better than the university's insurance. Students must present proof of insurance along with an English translation of the policy to the ISS Office within 15 days of the beginning of classes or he/she will be billed for the university insurance.

Medical Care

Care is available regularly during the fall and spring semesters at the Student Health Center located in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center. If students need medical care at a time when the Health Center is closed, students can go to a local doctor or to the emergency room at Samaritan Hospital. Each summer the ISS office will distribute information on where to go and what to do for medical care for the summer semester. Students are required to fill out claim forms and turn them into the Health Center so that they can be reimbursed for all or most of the bill (to the ISS office during the summer months.)

TB Tests

When a new international student starts study at Ashland University they will be required to have a TB Test taken at the Student Health Center. This is normally done as a part of the ongoing orientation sessions and/or the ISS office will arrange this for you.
