How to Reduce Expenses
- Work on campus: Many of our international students work in food services, and can earn an estimated $3,000 to $3,500 per year. Immigration allows students to work on campus for up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and full-time during the summer and Christmas breaks.
- If you are an undergraduate student, plan to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT); information is available through www.sat.org. Submitting a score could increase your chances for a scholarship. Please see this portion of the website for more information on our scholarships: http://www.ashland.edu/iss/undergrad-scholar.html.
- If you are a graduate student, or an undergraduate student over the age of 22, you can live off campus, and save an estimated $3,000 per year. There are affordable rooming houses within walking distance of the campus where you can live and cook for yourself.
- Study and live in Ashland, Ohio. Ashland, when compared with larger cities, has an overall lower cost of living. And don't forget that our crime rate is low, too.
