Academic Scholarships

Available for undergraduate students only. We do not have scholarships for graduate students.


The International Presidential Scholarship
The International Presidential Scholarship is awarded to students who are entering Ashland University as first-year students (freshmen). The amount of the scholarship is determined by the grade point average of the last four years of education.  The amount of the scholarship can be enhanced if the student submits official results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Effective for Fall 2008 and beyond, the scholarship is determined by the following formula:

With this award, a student needs a minimum of two points to earn a $4, 000/year award.  The maximum amount is $8, 000/year.  The scholarship can be granted for a maximum of five years.  A student needs to maintain a 3.0 GPA at Ashland University at the end of each academic year for the award to be renewed for the following year.


The International Director's Scholarship
The International Director's Scholarship is based on the student's grade point average of the last four years of education.  It is awarded according to the following schedule:

The scholarship can be renewed for up to five years by maintaining a minimum of 2.5 GPA at Ashland University at the end of each academic year.


The International Transfer Scholarship
The International Transfer Scholarship is awarded to students who have studied for at least 15 semester hours at an accredited school of higher education.  This scholarship is designed for transfer students, second degree, and non-degree student who are enrolled full time in an academic program at Ashland University.  The amount of the scholarship is based on the cumulative grade point average (GPA) obtained before entering Ashland University.  The amount of the award is determined as follows effective for Fall 2002 and beyond:

The scholarship can be renewed for up to four years by maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA at Ashland University at the end of each academic year.


Important Notes about Scholarships
To be eligible for any scholarship, an applicant must meet the following requirements: If a student is eligible for any scholarship, the scholarship is automatically granted as a reduction in tuition.  There are no extra forms to complete.  The amount of the scholarship will be reflected on the I-20 form or DS-2019 form.   The scholarship is renewable for up to five years (ten semesters), provided the student is making satisfactory progress toward the bachelor or associate degree. The award does not apply to summer program study, graduate study (Master's degree), or intensive English language study.
