Find an appropriate index.
To
find an appropriate index, look at our list of Research
Databases and find an index that covers your subject. Don't
know where to start? Try a general index such as Academic
Search Complete. Or, select a database subject group
from the Research Database drop-down menu on the main
library page. Reference librarians are available
for help.
Search the index for article references. Indexes
list articles by subject or keyword. Type a word or phrase
that best describes the information you need. You will retrieve
a list of articles related to the term(s) for which you searched.
Check the citation to see if the database offers full
text of the article. This can be determined by the words
"Full Text" or by clicking on the words "Find
a Copy" to see if there is a link to a full text source.
When full text is not available, make note of the full
citation. It will include the magazine or journal title,
date of publication, and page numbers.
See if AU has the magazine or journal you're looking for. Check
the AU Catalog to see if the library has the publication you need,
either in print, microfiche, or microfilm.
Look up your article. Print journals and magazines are located
on the east side of the main floor. Microfilm and microfiche are located in
the Copy Center on the main floor. Ask
for help at the Reserves Desk.
If your article is not available at AU... Articles not available at AU in print or online may be requested through interlibrary loan. Ask a reference librarian for a request form or use the online ILL article request form. Articles usually arrive within 7 - 10 working days, and will be mailed directly to you. There is no charge to AU faculty, staff and students for this service.
